To drink a ‘Wine of the Dead’ is to savour an important part of Portugal’s history. A history that dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, with the French invasions, when the population hid their most precious possessions from foreign attacks. Among them was wine, which was buried in the cellar floors.

When they were recovered, unusual properties were discovered. And the tradition of keeping the bottles buried continues to this day.

The Adega do Vinho dos Mortos is located in Terras do Barroso, a region classified as World Agricultural Heritage by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.

COLLABORATION WITH WINE 66

Nuno Pereira
Wine producer at Vinho Dos Mortos

We are very happy with the partnership. We think it makes a lot of sense for Vinho Dos Mortos to be associated with this project, which also tells the story of wine. I am sure it will be a success.
