ABOUT THE RESTAURANT
Lawrence’s Hotel is the oldest hotel in the Iberian Peninsula, founded in 1764.
It is located in the historic centre of Sintra (Lisbon), surrounded by the main monuments of the town, such as the Moorish Castle, the Quinta de Regaleira and the National Palace.
It has become an obligatory stop for visitors from all over the world who come to see one of the settings of Eça de Queiróz’s masterpiece ‘Os Maias’.
Lawrence’s restaurant is the centre of the gastronomic experiences of the whole region. As well as offering typical Portuguese dishes, it features the best of contemporary cuisine.
Of particular note is the ‘Queirosiano Menu’, with dishes inspired by the books of Eça de Queiroz, who, like George Lord Byron, was one of the hotel’s many illustrious guests.
